Costa Teguise Webcam, Beach Bar, Lanzarote
Live Costa Teguise beach cam on the Lanzarote seafront, Canary Islands, Spain.
Eleven million square metres of salt pans and farmland on the east coast of Lanzarote were bought by the company Explosivos Río Tinto in the early 1970s, and the town of Teguise licensed its resort plan in 1974. What grew there is Costa Teguise, and this Costa Teguise webcam streams live from the Beach Bar, a bar on the seafront promenade, looking out over the sand and the Atlantic in the Canary Islands, Spain. It sits with the other Lanzarote webcams on the site.
Playa de las Cucharas, about a kilometre of golden sand, is the resort’s main beach and the one windsurfers favour, and it hosts a freestyle stop of the PWA World Tour every year. The steady winds that make it work for windsurfing also bring paddle boarders and divers to this coast, with the shops and restaurants of the promenade right behind the sand.
The resort was shaped by the Lanzarote artist César Manrique, who worked with architect Fernando Higueras on the Hotel Salinas, built between 1974 and 1977 as the island’s first five-star hotel. Teguise’s official tourism site also credits him with the Pueblo Marinero, the village square of bars, restaurants and craft markets.
The island’s capital, Arrecife, is about 15 kilometres away, and its port is where cruise ships call on Lanzarote. On days when a ship is in, the Arrecife cruise port webcam shows it alongside.
From the promenade you can walk to Playa del Jablillo, a small horseshoe of sand enclosed by volcanic rock, and on to Playa Bastián, or the other way past the Gran Meliá Salinas to Los Charcos. For the main beach seen head-on, the Playa de las Cucharas live cam gives a second angle on the same stretch of coast.
Costa Teguise had 8,306 residents in 2018, more than three times the 2,299 counted in 2000, and the municipality of Teguise keeps a tourist office in the resort itself.
The resort also built Costa Teguise Golf in the late 1970s, and for about 30 years it was the only golf course on Lanzarote. For more coastlines to watch live, open our free live webcams.
