One evening, four live webcams

At 8 p.m. on a Saturday in Nashville, the honky-tonks on Lower Broadway have their doors open. A band is playing in almost every bar, and the live cam on Lower Broadway confirms it in seconds. In London it is 2 a.m. and the streets are quiet, while in Tokyo it is already Sunday morning and the Shibuya Scramble Crossing is filling with shoppers.

That spread of time zones is the best reason to keep a few live webcams open. With more than 230 cameras in over 25 countries on this site, at least one of them is always in its busiest hour.

Daytime live cams: crowds, cruise ships and runways

Weekday afternoons fill the Times Square webcam, where Broadway and Seventh Avenue cross between 42nd and 47th Streets under screens that never switch off.

The district counted about 220,000 pedestrians a day in 2024, according to the Times Square Alliance, and on peak days the count reaches 330,000.

Plane spotters open the Heathrow live cam around 3 p.m. UK time. When the wind blows from the west, which happens about 70% of the year, Heathrow moves its arrivals from one runway to the other at that hour, so you can watch the landings change sides.

On weekends, the PortMiami live cam usually shows cruise ships backing away from their terminals in the late afternoon and lining up for Government Cut, the channel that leads to the Atlantic.

After dark: bar stages, the Eiffel Tower sparkle and skylines

The sunset crowd in Key West gathers at Mallory Square. A few blocks inland, the Sloppy Joe’s live cam points at the corner of Duval and Greene Streets, where the bar has stood since 1937.

In Paris, the Eiffel Tower webcam is worth opening on the hour once night falls: the tower sparkles for five minutes at the start of every hour, until midnight or 1 a.m. depending on the season.

Across the East River in Brooklyn Heights, the NYC live cam watches the Lower Manhattan skyline light up, with One World Trade Center rising 1,776 feet above the Financial District.

Finding live cams by place or by type

When you already know where you want to look, start from a hub. The page of live cams in New York gathers about 60 cameras, with the Statue of Liberty, Montauk and the Thousand Islands Bridge among them.

To compare the same kind of view in different places, use the tags. The beach webcams put Médano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, Waikiki in Honolulu and Golden Bay in Malta a tap apart.

One habit makes these live webcams more rewarding: before opening a camera, check the local time where it is, and pick the city that is in its evening right now.
