You are watching Port Canaveral live, streaming around the clock from Cape Canaveral on Florida’s Space Coast, in Brevard County, USA. The camera looks across the harbor from The Cove, the strip of waterfront restaurants on the south side of the channel, toward the docks where SpaceX’s recovery fleet ties up and the cruise terminals beyond. Few places on earth put a giant cruise ship and a flown Falcon 9 booster in the same shot, and this Port Canaveral webcam catches both.

It is also one of the busiest views among our Florida webcams. Tugs, pilot boats, charter fishing boats, cargo ships and the odd Navy vessel all use the same narrow channel between the Atlantic and the port’s turning basins, so there is almost always something moving on screen.

What you see on the Port Canaveral live cam

The view is centered on the working side of the port. SpaceX’s droneships and support vessels come and go from here, and when a recovered booster is back in port you can watch it sitting upright on deck before the cranes lift it off. Cruise ships pass through the frame on their way in at dawn and on their way out in the late afternoon, which is when the webcam gets most of its viewers.

Evenings are worth a look too. The ships light up as they leave, and on launch nights the sky to the north can glow over the port. Farther west, by the port’s West Turning Basin, our Cape Marina live cam shows the smaller boats and yachts that share the harbor, a good second angle when the main channel is quiet.

SpaceX boosters and rocket launches from Port Canaveral

Most Falcon 9 first stages launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Kennedy Space Center land on a droneship out in the Atlantic. On the East Coast those ships are A Shortfall of Gravitas and Just Read the Instructions, and after a landing they are towed back through this channel, usually a few days after the launch depending on the sea state and how far offshore the landing happened. For many space fans, the Port Canaveral live cam is the easiest way to see a booster return without driving to the coast.

The launch pads themselves sit a few miles north of the port, so the rockets are not in frame on the ground, but the climb after liftoff is often visible from this part of the coast. If you follow SpaceX closely, the company’s Texas test site is also on our SpaceX Starship live cam, where Starship vehicles are built and tested at Starbase.

Cruise ships at Port Canaveral: when do they sail?

Port Canaveral is now the busiest cruise port in the world. It handled more than 8.6 million cruise passenger movements in fiscal year 2025, up 13% on the year before, according to Canaveral Port Authority. The port reports 18 homeported ships from seven cruise brands and more than 1,000 sailings a year, which is why a cruise ship cam here rarely stays empty for long.

Carnival, Celebrity, Disney, MSC, Norwegian, Princess and Royal Caribbean all sail from Port Canaveral, including Royal Caribbean’s Icon-class ships, among the largest cruise ships ever built. That volume was enough to push past PortMiami, which you can compare on our Port Miami live cam.

Ships usually arrive early in the morning and sail away in the late afternoon, most often between about 4 and 5 p.m., although times change by ship and by day. To know which ship you are looking at, check the port’s official cruise ship schedule, which lists every arrival and departure by date and terminal. Friends and family often keep this webcam open on sailing day to catch the moment their ship leaves the harbor.

Where to watch ships and launches in person

The best free show is at The Cove, where restaurant decks sit right on the channel and ships pass close enough to wave at passengers. At the eastern tip of the port, Jetty Park has a beach, a fishing pier and a campground, and it is one of the classic spots to watch both sail aways and launches (entry requires a day pass). Dolphins and manatees turn up in the channel often, and pelicans work the fishing boats all day.

How to get to Port Canaveral

Port Canaveral sits on the Atlantic coast, roughly an hour’s drive east of Orlando and Orlando International Airport via State Road 528, the Beachline. It is the closest cruise port to the Orlando theme parks. Cocoa Beach and its pier are a short drive south, and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is about 20 minutes north, which makes the port an easy base for a Space Coast trip before or after a cruise.

Best time to visit Port Canaveral

Winter and spring are the most comfortable months on the Space Coast, with calmer seas for fishing charters and dolphin tours. Summer brings afternoon thunderstorms that often roll through quickly, and the Atlantic hurricane season runs from June through November, when sailings and launches can shift at short notice. If you want to see a launch, plan around the published launch schedule rather than a date, since launches often slip.

Why keep the Port Canaveral webcam open

Rockets, recovery ships and some of the biggest cruise ships afloat all move through the same small harbor, and the view changes from hour to hour. Check it on sailing day, after a Falcon 9 landing, or just when you want a few minutes of ships gliding past, and when you are done, travel on to more live webcams from around the world.
